NINE x FIVES, 2024
In 2024, I began experiments with dyeing and painting botanical colours on small squares of mordanted linen. I was reminded how well linen hangs on the diagonal when I pinned completed images to the studio wall, and they progressively settled into a diagonal formation.

The Nine x Fives wall installation was made with botanical dyes and pigments distilled from extracts and dried plant matter, including Madder, Indigo, Cochineal, Lac, Weld, Fustic and Buckthorn, with guar gum as a binder. The title, Nine x Fives, refers to their pentagonal imagery in a nine-part formation likened to previous acrylic paintings on board.

The installation was shown in a curated exhibition of seven women artists at the Canberra Contemporary Art Space lakeside. Titled: Pattern Recognition, the exhibition was a part of Regenerate, the 2024 Craft + Design Canberra Festival.
