Researching and distilling traditional botanical and earth pigments, and making paintings with the unique resonance and malleability of these fresh, yet ancient substances, feels like engaging with live colour.

Colours in painting are relatively two dimensional, while there is a phenomenal aspect to these environmentally sensitive colours that I seek to share.

Pigments include: indigo, madder, weld, lac, cochineal, with encaustic gesso.
