SOFT, GREY MORNING, 2004

I’m interested in shifts that occur in water-soluble acrylic paint as it dries and adheres with a permanent surface. Likewise, simple phenomena like paint residue spreading and dissolving on the surface of water in a jar when a paint brush is dipped in it, or breath becomes visible in cold air. Atmospheric conditions in the garden around the studio with frost evaporating and mist rising off foliage, reminded me of the painting I was making.
