My studio at this time was located in a garden of indigenous plants, close to open country and the Southern Ocean. That volatile climate sharpened my senses to the temporal conditions of daily life, responsive to light and temperature shifts and growth patterns through the day and with the seasons.

On summer evenings, sun flooded the house through windows open to sea and sky.
